Alyssa Bottone is a native Rhode Islander who’s been living in Newport for over 5 years. She’s a graduate of Michigan State University and works as an executive recruiter with Towerhill Associates in Middletown, consulting for tech startups across the country. Her favorite time of year is Folk Fest weekend, and she can usually be found walking Diesel & Dakota, her two dalmatians, around the wharf. Alyssa is the lead organizer and license holder for TEDxNewport and has been collaborating with community members from every corner of the island to bring this event to life.
Matthew is a production expert who brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. He grew up in Newport and attended the University of California. When he’s not here on the island, he splits hi time between LA and Paris working in the independent film industry. He’s fluent in French, an avid traveler, and always finds time for adventure.
Jillian grew up in New York and moved to Newport in 2010 to attend Salve Regina University. She’s a freelance writer who’s been covering local events and putting the spotlight on female entrepreneurs of Aquidneck Island. She spends as much of her time outdoors as possible and can often be found searching for dear at Sachuest Point.
Alex is a business owner, filmmaker, and photographer who grew up in Rhode Island. He participates in many networking groups across Rhode Island, including the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, and his grandparents ran a B&B on Merton Road for the last 12 years. As an active lifestyle commercial photographer, he’s passionate about capturing human-environmental interactions- there’s no shortage of inspiration here in Newport!
Meg has been a professional photographer since 2003, capturing thousands of weddings, proposals, and perfect candids around the country with seemingly perfect lighting. She grew up in Massachusetts, spent years in Colorado, and finally moved to Newport in 2013 where she can breathe in the salty Atlantic air every morning. Meg is often found riding around on her beach cruiser and digging her toes in the sand.
John grew up in South Kingstown and played soccer at URI. He moved to Newport in 2012 and spent years in the hospitality industry, getting to know locals and summer tourists and the uniqueness of Newport life. He’s now living in Jamestown and directing sales for an RI-based web design firm. When he’s not adventuring with his dogs in Newport, he’s likely sailing or networking – or both!
Michael Peter Buckley
Peter is a sales professional at The Wine Bros, a small, young distribution company in RI. He moved to Newport in 2011 while finishing a degree in entrepreneurship at URI. He’s impassioned by the history and sense of community on the island, and he’s serves as a volunteer mentor to middle and high school students in the area. When he’s not educating folks on great wines, he’s chasing the waves as a year-round surfer.
Alyssa is a Salve Regina Alum who has lived in Newport since 2003. She was born in South Korea and grew up in the Berkshires, and spent time in the hospitality industry before her career in real estate. As sales and rental specialist, she’s constantly exploring homes that are filled with history and often, breathtaking views. She’s a champagne enthusiast and has been working with sponsors to bring TEDxNewport to life!
